There is a sense that this New York Knicks team is the strongest they have had in a very long time. Dare I say, and hold your ears, Knicks fans, that this could be the year.
Looking ahead after whatever happens with the rest of this miraculous playoff run, there is a chance for the Knicks to pick up a pretty significant future piece in the 2026 NBA Draft. After the Washington Wizards took the first overall pick, the Knicks are projected to get the 24th pick.
According to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report. Dailyn Swain of Texas looks like he will be the next big thing coming to New York. A 6-foot-8, explosive and creative point guard, he averaged 17.3 points per game, grabbed an average of 7.5 rebounds, and added 3.6 assists a night.
In his first season with Texas, the Junior really upped his production from the 3-point line, making 32 of 93 attempts for a 34.4% shooting percentage from deep.
He has been described as a "Swiss Army knife" that can adapt and play all over the floor. He will likely be moved from point guard to a "big" position once he is on an NBA roster. Swain was a key part of a surprisingly great Texas Longhorns team that reached the Sweet 16 in March Madness.
Looking ahead at the NBA Draft, the Knicks have to use this to their advantage. No matter where they end up, depending on whether their season ends with a championship or not, they have to make the right choice. Swain, if he is still available, looks to be a slam dunk.
