The elite statistical company that makes the Diamondbacks a 2026 threat

It was a rollercoaster of an offseason for the Arizona Diamondbacks and their fanbase. For much of the winter, fans were starting to accept that Ketel Marte would be gone.

However, instead of shipping him elsewhere, Arizona doubled down and acquired Nolan Arenado in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals

You also cannot overlook the team re-signing Zac Gallen. The two sides agreed on a one-year deal, as his offseason did not go as planned.

Now that the starting rotation and lineup are shored up, fans are starting to get excited for the new season. On paper, they should be a better team than they were last year, but that is not a guarantee.

According to MLB.com's Jared Greenspan, the success will come down to the trio of Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Geraldo Perdomo, who are projected to be one of the most elite trios in 2026.

"Ketel Marte will begin the 2026 season in Arizona. That keeps one of the league's top-of-the-order trios intact in Marte, Corbin Carroll, and Geraldo Perdomo. FanGraphs projects each player to clear the 4-WAR threshold in 2026; the D-backs are one of just three teams (along with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets) with three position players projected to accumulate at least 4.0 WAR."

The D-backs are just one of three teams, including the Dodgers and Mets, to have three position players projected to accumulate a 4.0 WAR. That is pretty good company to be in.

If everyone can stay healthy, this could be a team that will be players at the deadline. And adding another big-time name could put this team in a contending status.

Don't sleep on the D-backs as they enter the 2026 season with some newfound hope.
