Deiveson Figueiredo walked away unscathed from a frightening car crash in Belem that left his Land Rover wrecked. The former UFC flyweight champion was driving alone when another vehicle reportedly struck his car, causing it to roll over several times.

The 37-year-old confirmed that he avoided injury, crediting the car’s safety features for protecting him. Figueiredo shared the aftermath of the incident on Instagram, writing:

"Thank God for the deliverance. I had an accident today. I was following Quintino Bocaiuva Street, going towards Gentil Bitencourt. A lady at high speed, apparently seemed to be on the run, emerged from a secondary street, named Caripuna hitting the middle of my vehicle... The car that I had flipped over several times."

He also revealed to MMA Fighting:

“I was alone in the car. My car is bulletproof, and thank God nothing happened to me.”

The accident comes just weeks after Figueiredo’s hard-fought split-decision win over Montel Jackson at UFC Fight Night 261 in Rio de Janeiro. Figueiredo, now 25-5-1, showed strong grappling and composure that night, controlling the early rounds and countering Jackson’s reach effectively.

Having recently moved up to bantamweight, Figueiredo has been vocal about chasing another title run. His comeback win kept him in the mix within a stacked division led by Merab Dvalishvili. Despite back-to-back losses before Rio, his performance signaled that he remains a dangerous contender capable of adjusting and competing at the elite level.

Deiveson Figueiredo made his case for a fight against Merab Dvalishvili before UFC Rio return

Deiveson Figueiredo made his intentions clear ahead of UFC Rio.

The former flyweight king saw a path toward Merab Dvalishvili’s bantamweight title, claiming that the Georgian’s relentless style can be cracked. The Brazilian called Dvalishvili the best in the division but insisted he has the tools to beat him.

Speaking in an interview with MMA Fighting, he said:

“He’s been doing an excellent job. We can see he’s almost tied with the best in terms of title defenses in the organization. I give him that credit, yes. And for me, it would be a pleasure to fight him.”

He added:

“The key [to beating Dvalishvili] is not being timid. Be yourself and make him back up, you know? Make him feel it, make him realize that on the other side there’s also someone who can hurt him.”
