CM Punk will face Jey Uso for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event XLI. Nic Nemeth believes that Punk doesn't need to win the title.

Punk earned himself a shot at the title when Seth Rollins held the championship. However, Rollins was forced to relinquish the title due to an injury and was eventually written off TV after The Vision's betrayal. This left Punk without an opponent for Saturday Night's Main Event before Jey earned himself another shot at it by winning a Battle Royal on RAW.

Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Nemeth said that Punk doesn't need to win the title at Saturday Night's Main Event, as it wouldn't feel right. He thinks WWE will eventually put the title on The Second City Saint in a huge payoff.

"Pulling the trigger on Punk on a Saturday Night's Main Event right now to become champion, that doesn't feel right at all," Ray began. "Punk does not need a championship, and when the eventual day comes, night comes, that Punk wins the championship, it has to be the payoff of all payoffs, just like him finally getting to be in a main event of WrestleMania. Punk, much like a Dusty Rhodes — it's a good place to be in — never needs a championship. When they put the championship on you, it's just for the payoff. It's coming right back off you because the people love you either way." said Nemeth. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]

Peter Rosenberg pitched an idea for CM Punk's retirement

Peter Rosenberg pitched an idea for CM Punk's retirement. As of this moment, the 47-year-old hasn't hinted at the possibility of the same.

Speaking on the Cheap Heat podcast, Rosenberg said:

"I think if CM Punk's true moment ever comes, it should really be towards the end. I think that is the everlasting storyline of his final run, is he just can't get it. He can't get it. And when he eventually gets it, it's a true tearjerker, and he holds it for a few months towards the end. That is when I think the story for Punk,"

Punk could win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the second time since returning to the company. His first reign was at SummerSlam 2025 when he defeated Gunther but was quickly dethroned by Seth Rollins.
