The Texas Longhorns are headed back to Omaha.

After a four-run lead turned into a one-run deficit, No. 6 Texas rallied late to defeat No. 11 Oregon 6–5 in Game 2 of the Austin Super Regional Sunday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The victory completed a two-game sweep of the Ducks and sent the Longhorns to the College World Series.

The fireworks started immediately, with SEC Newcomer of the Year Aiden Robbins and Buster Posey Award Finalist Carson Tinney belting back-to-back home runs off of Oregon starter Will Sanford:

The Longhorns then tacked on two more runs in the second and appeared poised to break the game open in the fourth after loading the bases and chasing Sanford from the game. However, Oregon reliever Tanner Bradley stepped in, escaped the jam with a strikeout, and proceeded to allow just one hit over the next three innings.

Texas starter Ruger Riojas was far from dominant, allowing four runs on six hits. But the senior battled and gave head coach Jim Schlossnagle 5.2 hard-fought innings before Ethan Walker recorded the final out of the sixth.

Freshman Brody Walls surrendered a leadoff double in the seventh, forcing Schlossnagle to pull the righty after just one batter. Thomas Burns entered and retired all three batters he faced, but allowed the inherited runner to score in the process, leaving Texas down 5–4 entering the eighth.

Down one with six outs left, the Longhorn bats responded in dramatic fashion. Following two quick outs, Texas loaded the bases. With the game-tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position, shortstop Adrian Rodriguez ripped a double down the left-field line, driving in two and putting the Longhorns back in front:

With the Longhorns clinging to a one-run lead and the prospect of a winner-take-all Game 3 looming, Schlossnagle then turned to All-SEC closer Sam Cozart. The freshman retired all six batters he faced, struck out four Ducks, and punched the Longhorns’ ticket to Omaha:

The Longhorns' return to Omaha carries significance on multiple levels. The trip marks Schlossnagle’s eighth College World Series and his first since taking over at Texas. For the program, it is a record-extending 39th College World Series appearance. The Longhorns are also looking to claim their seventh national championship and first since 2005. It is Texas' first trip to Omaha since 2022, when the Longhorns bowed out after going 0–2 in the double-elimination tournament.
