Texas A&M projected to end season at 11-1: Where the Aggies stand in Week 9

3 hours ago 1

Texas A&M is 8-0. That hasn’t been said in quite a while. The Aggies are No. 3 in the Nation in the AP Poll, and it doesn’t appear that their record will be hurt anytime soon, at least according to ESPN FPI.

The Aggies have had an extremely excellent season. Texas A&M’s last 8-0 start before the 2025 season occurred in 1992, when the Aggies finished the regular season 12-0 under head coach R.C. Slocum.

Texas A&M is inching closer towards its first solid playoff campaign in quite a while.

Texas A&M has never appeared in the College Football Playoff (CFP) since the four-team format was introduced in 2014. The Aggies have come close in past seasons, receiving serious consideration in 2020 and being mentioned as playoff contenders during strong years, but they have not yet received an invitation or made an official CFP appearance. They have also never attended the SEC Championship, something that their in-state rival, Texas, accomplished in their first season in the conference.

Taking a glance at the rest of the season, how many of the remaining games A&M has here is what ESPN's FPI predictor says heading into this week.

  • Nov. 8: Texas A&M (54.9%) at Missouri (45.1%)
  • Nov. 15: Texas A&M (82.8%) vs. South Carolina (17.2%)
  • Nov. 22: Texas A&M (99.0%) vs. Samford (1.0%)
  • Nov. 28: Texas A&M (42.2%) vs. Texas (57.8%)

The SEC Championship is slated for December 6 from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Selection Sunday is slated for December 7.
