Tales of the inner fire pushing Cam Schlittler to brink of Yankees stardom: ‘We are absolutely screwed’

According to just about everyone around him, Cam Schlittler is a nice and quiet guy.

The type who values his roots. After beating the Tigers in The Bronx in September, Schlittler texted his Northeastern coach, Mike Glavine, and asked what time practice was the next day. The Yankees were coming to Boston.

“He walked from the hotel to our practice, ended up just walking into one of our pitchers’ meetings,” Glavine said. “This was not me asking him to do it. He was doing it on his own.

“Just a humble, pretty special guy.”
