Suns receive encouraging Dillon Brooks and Mark Williams injury updates

The Phoenix Suns have struggled lately, dropping out of the race for a top-six seed in the Western Conference.

The Suns have lost five of their last six games, including a defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks who were without Giannis Antetokounmpo.

That said, Phoenix received encouraging news Monday.

According to NBA insider John Gambadoro, the Suns may possibly get back both Dillon Brooks and Mark Williams from injury next week.

Brooks has missed the last 15 games with a broken hand, suffered against the Orlando Magic.

However, when healthy, Brooks has excelled with the Suns. In 50 games this season, Brooks is averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game to go along with 3.7 rebounds and one steal.

Brooks is also shooting 44% from the field, his highest mark in the last eight seasons.

As for Williams, he's missed the last 11 games with a foot injury.

In his first season with the Suns, Williams has proven to be a serviceable starter, averaging 11.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks in 56 games.

With 10 games remaining for Phoenix, it'd be important for both Williams and Brooks to return in order to ramp up for the postseason.

Currently, the Suns sit seventh in the West, a spot that they'll likely hold until the end of the season. Phoenix trails Minnesota by four games for sixth and leads the Los Angeles Clippers by four and a half games for eighth.

After a rest day Monday, they'll return to action Tuesday, hosting the Denver Nuggets.
