Spurs injury updates: Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and more

The San Antonio Spurs are fighting for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, having won 10 of their last 11 games including their last five in a row.

As a result, San Antonio trails the Oklahoma City Thunder by three games for the top-seed with 11 games remaining.

Sunday, the team received encouraging news surrounding the health of star center Victor Wembanyama.

Despite being added to the injury report prior to Saturday's game against the Pacers due to right ankle soreness, Wembanyama suited up for San Antonio, posting 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five blocks.

According to NBA insider Maxime Aubin, Wembanyama has been removed from the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Miami Heat.

On the season, Wembanyama has been a dominant force on both sides of the ball, averaging 24.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

That said, both Devin Vassell and second-year guard Stephon Castle have been listed as questionable.

Both Castle and Vassell are San Antonio's third and fourth leading scorers behind Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.

If both were unable to suit up, the Spurs would likely lean on Keldon Johnson and Justin Champagnie to pick up the slack offensively.

Rookie Dylan Harper could be another candidate for more offensive opportunities, scoring 24 points off the bench Saturday against the Pacers.

Following Monday's game, the Spurs will face the Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks on the road before returning home to host the Chicago Bulls.
