Stephen Curry provides an update on the one topic no Warriors fan wants to think about

Stephen Curry has been the Golden State Warriors' franchise player for the better part of two decades.

But there will come a time when the NBA's 3-point shooting king is going to walk away from what has been a legendary career in the Bay Area.

Fortunately for Warriors fans, Curry has done his best to assure them that Golden State's next era without him isn't going to start tomorrow.

“It’ll declare itself, whenever the time comes to call it quits, which I don’t think is anytime soon," Curry said in an interview with People Magazine, allaying any whispers that he would retire when his contract ends next year.

As he approaches his 38th birthday in April, Curry told People that it is a "badge of honor" to be competing at an All-Star level in his 17th season.

Though Curry missed Sunday's All-Star Game as he continued to manage a knee injury, the four-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist is averaging 27.2 points per game this year. His Warriors (29-26) are in the thick of the Play-In Tournament hunt in the Western Conference, even if championship contention might elude them amid Jimmy Butler's season-ending knee injury.

“Thinking about the end robs you of the now,” Curry said. “I’m enjoying the journey of competing and all the work that goes into it. Hopefully that carries me a long way.”
