The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson to a two-year deal last offseason, but the team could move on from the veteran after just one season.
The Athletic's Matt Barrows lists Robinson as a top cut candidate for San Francisco after he posted a disappointing 2025 campaign.
"Robinson had ample opportunities for a major role in the passing attack due to all the injuries to 49ers pass catchers but ended up with just 276 receiving yards, seventh best on the team."
In 14 games, Robinson had just 22 catches for 276 yards and a touchdown. The 31-year-old had a solid 2024 season with the Los Angeles with seven touchdowns and 505 yards, but couldn't build off of it in 2025.
The 49ers would save $253,000 by cutting Robinson with a post-June 1st designation, and if they decide to make the move, the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots should have interest.
Robinson spent the first six seasons of his career in Kansas City, serving as a reliable depth receiver in Andy Reid's offense. With the Chiefs needing more receiver talent, a reunion with Robinson would make sense, though it wouldn't solve all of the team's issues at the position.
Miami released Tyreek Hill on Monday and now has a need at receiver. Robinson wouldn't fill the void left by Hill, but he would be an adequate addition to a receiver room that has little talent outside of Jaylen Waddle.
New England needs to acquire a few more pass-catchers for quarterback Drake Maye, and Robinson would be a savvy signing as a high-end depth playmaker if he gets cut by the 49ers. However, the Patriots also need to make a splash move to improve the receiver position, and Robinson wouldn't be that.
Despite coming off a down year, Robinson should still have a few suitors in free agency if he is let go by San Francisco. The Chiefs, Dolphins, and Patriots could be among the teams interested in the Florida product.
