Stephen Curry Gives Pat Spencer Ultimate Compliment by Citing Vintage Warriors Success

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry gave teammate Pat Spencer the ultimate compliment by comparing his performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday to that of a former Warriors star. Curry started next to Spencer in the 127-120 home loss against the Timberwolves and compared him to Jarrett Jack, who played for the Warriors from 2012-2013.

Curry compared Spencer’s playing style to that of Jack. He added that the former Northwestern star handled the ball effectively and initiated the team's offense well.

"It was cool, Curry said. “It's reminiscent for me like Jarrett Jack back in the day. A guy that just can handle the ball and I was just off the ball a lot... on purpose. With full confidence that he can initiate the offense."

Pat Spencer has seen his stock rise this season. He has been a constant presence in the Warriors team and stepped up during the injury absence of Stephen Curry. Spencer has averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists in his last five games for the Warriors.

He recorded 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in his last game against the Timberwolves. Stephen Curry made his return against Minnesota after being absent due to a quad contusion and muscle strain injury to record a game-high 39 points, alongside five rebounds and assists.

Stephen Curry showers more praise on Pat Spencer

Stephen Curry had more words of praise to say about teammate Pat Spencer. He shared his feelings about the two-way player after practice on Thursday.

“It’s amazing to watch,” Curry said. “We’ve seen it over the summers, in practice, when he’s been out there in short spurts. He just has a presence about him that he just knows the game.” “He plays with 120 percent of confidence every time he’s out there,” he added. “And as a kind of playmaker role, it was cool to see him kind of adapt to what we needed pretty much overnight. And I think it’ll only help us as we keep moving forward.”

The four-time champion will return to lead the Warriors to winning ways when they travel to Portland to face the Trail Blazers on Sunday. He is averaging 28.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 4.1 APG.
