Where Winds Meet mobile is finally out, and one thing becomes clear almost clear: this isn’t a scaled-down companion app or a watered-down port. It’s the full Wuxia open-world experience, carefully adapted for phones without losing what makes the game special.
Here are five important things you should know about Where Winds Meet mobile.
Things to know before playing Where Winds Meet mobile
1) Optimization
Gameplay still from Where Winds Meet (Image via NetEase Games)Performance is easily the biggest surprise. Where Winds Meet mobile runs smoothly: Frame pacing is stable, loading times are good, and the visuals hold up well on a smaller screen. The environments, lighting, and combat effects all look sharp without overheating devices or causing aggressive battery drain.
A lot of credit goes to the engine work and optimization, which clearly wasn’t treated as an afterthought.
2) It’s the full game, not a cut-down version
Where Winds Meet mobile delivers the same expansive wuxia experience as PC (Image via NetEase Games)This isn’t a mobile edition with missing systems or trimmed content. Where Winds Meet mobile is the same game as the PC and console versions in terms of content. The open world, quests, combat systems, and progression are all intact. The only real difference is the user interface, which has been adjusted for touch controls and smaller screens.
Outside of that, everything you’d expect from the main release is here, including the first two major zones packed with content.
3) The core structure stays true to wuxia
Combat is fun in Where Winds Meet mobile (Image via NetEase Games)At its heart, this is still a wuxia open-world action adventure game. On mobile, you can play it in three main ways:
- Solo, focusing on story and exploration
- Online co-op, teaming up casually
- MMO-style shared world elements
There’s a lot to do early on, and the pacing doesn’t feel rushed. Monetization exists, but it’s focused on cosmetics and mounts through gacha-style systems. There’s no pay-to-win pressure tied to power progression, which is a big relief.
4) Hardware requirements
Everstone Studio has been very clear about what kind of device you’ll need for a smooth experience, and it shows. The game runs well when you meet the specs, but this isn’t something meant for older phones.
iOS requirements
- Recommended: iOS 15+, iPhone 14 Pro (A16) or newer
- Supported: iPhone 12 Pro (A14) or newer
- Minimum: iPhone 11 (A13) or newer
Android requirements
- OS: Android 7.1+, at least 8 GB RAM
- Recommended chipsets: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Dimensity 9200, Exynos 2400 or better
- Supported chipsets: Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, Dimensity 8000, Exynos 2200 or better
- Minimum chipsets: Snapdragon 778G, Dimensity 1000L, Exynos 2100 or better
If your phone is close to the minimum line, expect compromises. If you’re closer to recommended, the game does well.
5) Crossplay, cross-progression, and mobile-specific tweaks
How account linking works in Where Winds Meet mobile (Image via NetEase Games)Multiplayer support is one of the strongest parts of Where Winds Meet mobile.
- Cross-progression is fully supported. You can switch between mobile, PC, and PS5 as long as your account is linked.
- Crossplay is enabled across platforms, letting you play with friends regardless of where they’re playing.
- Crossplay toggles exist on PS5. On PC, they’re currently not available. For mobile, it’s not confirmed yet, but it’s very likely an option will be added later.
There are also a few mobile-specific adjustments worth noting:
- New mobile characters can start on Story or Recommended difficulty. Expert unlocks at level 30.
- Legend difficulty is best unlocked on PC first, then carried over via cross-progression.
- Assist Deflection is turned on by default to help with touch controls, but it can be disabled in settings.
- Skill button layouts aren’t customizable yet, though advanced control options are planned for future updates.
These changes make onboarding smoother on mobile without stripping away what makes the combat system work.
