It's no secret that the Lakers have struggled from three-point range.
As a result, they made a move at the trade deadline to add the league's most accurate three-point shooter, Luke Kennard who leads the league at a whopping 49.4% success rate from deep.
That said, the addition of Kennard doesn't make up for all of the Lakers' shooting struggles this season.
The Lakers are still shooting 35% from deep, tied for 19th in the league with the Utah Jazz.
This has sparked debates amongst NBA insiders, wondering if the Lakers have enough shooting support to surround stars like Luka Doncic and LeBron James.
Long-time NBA media member Stephen A. Smith, chimed in on the subject recently in an episode of "First Take", making a wild comparison.
Smith said: "They ain't quite Ben Simmons.", referencing the Lakers' poor shooting, but trying to explain that it could be worse.
Smith then doubled-down on the take, making it more about Simmons than about the Lakers. When asked why Smith brought up Simmons, the ESPN media personality said: “As long as ‘First Take’ is in existence, Ben Simmons will catch strays (...) There is no bigger thief in the history of the NBA than that man. If Ben Simmons runs near a basketball arena, he should be arrested.”
Former NBA Champion and current NBA pundit Iman Shumpert was at a loss for words, holding his head down in disbelief.
Following the All-Star break, the Lakers will return to action Feb. 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers, Simmons' last NBA team.
