Again, the Pittsburgh Steelers reported interest in quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a topic of conversation. Still, nobody has any idea what Rodgers will do, where he will go, if he will play, or anything.
It's not surprising given Rodgers' past ventures, and the Steelers are the only realistic option left that would give him the chance to be the starter in 2025.
On Thursday, NFL insider Peter Schrager discussed that during The Pat McAfee Show. However, Schrager linked Atlanta Falcons signal-caller Kirk Cousins as a trade target.
"Kirk Cousins' name was coming up throughout the draft...I think Kirk Cousins is still a viable trade target," Schrager said. "If there is a seat on the carousel that's open, it is Pittsburgh. I would keep an eye on that one."
Also, it's notable that Arthur Smith is the Steelers offensive coordinator, and he was the previous head coach with the Falcons, although Smith never coached Cousins.
Reports surfaced earlier in the week that the Steelers were "hopeful" that Rodgers would come to town, but they can only wait so long.
As for Cousins, he is set to be the backup with the Falcons, and an expensive one at that. Before the NFL Draft, the Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings were some trade targets for Cousins, although the latter two don't make much sense anymore.
Right now, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and rookie Will Howard on the depth chart, so it is no secret they need someone else around the quarterback room.
