Did Jayson Tatum pull a fire alarm to avoid media? What you need to know about incident at TD Garden

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics suffered another horrific loss at the hands of the New York Knicks in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series on Wednesday night. After the game, a strange incident saw the fire alarms at TD Garden go off, causing a ruckus during post game press conferences.

After blowing a 20-point lead in Game 1, the C's did the exact same thing in Game 2, suffering a 91-90 defeat when all was said and done. Tatum was the primary culprit in this loss for Boston, as he scored just 13 points on 19 shots while also committing a turnover on the final possession of the game that sealed the deal for the Knicks.

During Jaylen Brown's postgame press conference, the fire alarm in TD Garden went off, forcing everyone to evacuate the building. It also conveniently allowed Tatum to get away without speaking to the media after his stinker of a game, which led to a slew of fake posts circulating on social media suggesting that he pulled the fire alarm.

This isn't the first time fans have gotten "Centeled," and it certainly won't be the last. But to clear up any confusion, no, Tatum did not pull the fire alarm to force TD Garden to be evacuated. In fact, he met with the media on Thursday and took full accountability for his early struggles against the Knicks.

"I take full ownership of the way that I've played in this series and can't sugarcoat anything," Tatum said. "I need to be better, and I expect to be a lot better."

The Celtics find themselves in an 0-2 hole against the Knicks with the series shifting back to Madison Square Garden. They will have a shot to get back on track on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET when they take court for Game 3.
