The Las Vegas Raiders upgraded their running back room in a major way during the 2025 NFL Draft, as the team used the No.6 overall pick in Round 1 on Ashton Jeanty.
The Boise State product is coming off a historic 2024 collegiate campaign, rushing for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns. The 21-year-old now heads to Las Vegas, where he'll immediately step in as the starting running back and could be the engine of Chip Kelly's offense.
Drafting Jeanty in the top ten is a massive investment, especially with the amount of money he is set to make on his rookie deal. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jeanty signed a fully guaranteed rookie contract that is worth $35.8 million over four seasons and includes a $22.7 million signing bonus.
"Raiders RB and No. 6 overall pick Ashton Jeanty has signed his fully-guaranteed, four-year $35,895,812 rookie deal that includes a $22,746,044 signing bonus, per his agents Henry Organn and Agent_Big_Al of Disruptive Sports," Schefter wrote on X.
Despite not playing a snap in the league yet, Jeanty is the 11th highest paid running back in the NFL in annual money, and is making more money on a yearly basis than many of the top backs, including Baltimore Ravens superstar Derrick Henry.
Jeanty should be a difference-maker on Day 1 for Las Vegas and could be a Pro Bowler in his rookie campaign, so his contract could look like a bargain by the end of the 2025 season.
