Steelers could fix Mike McCarthy's offense with 1 move

The Pittsburgh Steelers' passing offense in 2025 was D.K. Metcalf or bust.

With Aaron Rodgers at the helm, Metcalf was the only legitimate passing threat defense had to worry about, and under Mike McCarthy, that has to change.

Metcalf led the Steelers in yards (850), and the next best was running back Kenneth Gainwell (486), and he actually had more receptions than Metcalf as well.

So, how can McCarthy get some more juice in the passing game this offseason?

Bleacher Report's Alex Kay wants the Steelers to go after Green Bay Packers weapon Romeo Doubs.

"Romeo Doubs would be a sensible No. 2 choice to pair with Metcalf in 2026," Kay wrote. "He is coming off a career year with the Packers, one in which he posted a 55/724/6 line despite a litany of competition in a crowded receiving corps.

"Springing free of that situation and landing in Pittsburgh, where he would immediately stand out as a close second to Metcalf in the pecking order, could easily result in the wideout achieving a 1,000-yard season in Year 5."

Doubs a nice fit in Pittsburgh

Getting Metcalf help and forcing defenses to choose when and where to double him will make life easier for the whole offense. Having Metcalf on one side and Doubs on the other, whoever is at quarterback will have two good weapons to attack with.

Spotrac.com has Doubs' value set at $12 million APY, so he would take up a lot of the salary cap pie, which is another tick to this move.

In three of his four seasons, Doubs has surpassed 600 receiving yards, with last year being his best return as a pro (724 yards, 6 TDs). That sort of production is what the Steelers need.

If the Steelers want an uptick in offensive form, getting more receiver help is key, and Doubs offers Pittsburgh that chance.
