Steelers consider 37-6 QB as potential future of position in Pittsburgh

1 hour ago 2

Whether or not Aaron Rodgers puts off retirement to play quarterback this season in Pittsburgh, the Steelers still have a long-term QB question to answer.

Essentially, they don't have a quarterback of the future. And considering that it's the most important position in sports, they should probably be working on finding one.

The 2026 NFL Draft isn't loaded with quarterbacks, but it still has possibilities.

This week, the Steelers are using one of their pre-draft "30 visits" on Carson Beck, essentially signaling that they're particularly intrigued by him.

Miami QB Carson Beck is in Pittsburgh for a Top 30 visit with the Steelers.

Beck led Miami to the national championship game and had a strong on-field workout at the combine. With 43 starts (37-6 record), he has nearly three times as much experience as Ty Simpson (15 starts).

Beck is the QB from Miami who just led the Hurricanes to the national title game.

Before the Hurricanes, Beck played at Georgia, and in his college career, he went 37-6.

Beck was initially going to enter the NFL Draft a year ago before pulling back and deciding to transfer from the Bulldogs to the Hurricanes.

At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Beck has prototypical QB size.

He won a pair of national titles at Georgia before he was the starter.

Then in 2023, he led the SEC with 3,941 passing yards while competing 72.4% of his passes with 24 touchdowns and six picks.

He threw 28 TDs in 2024 and 30 in 2025, although he also had a dozen INTs in each season.

He did match that 72.4 completion percentage in 2025, and Beck also showed an ability to run in pressure spots during the College Football Playoff.

He's certainly got some intrigue about him, and the Steelers want to know more.
