Sure, the talking heads and NFL experts aren't always right, but they do know something, and it's smart for teams to at least pay attention to what they're saying. One NFL analyst is sending a warning of sorts to the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
There's a lot of excitement about Rodgers being back for one more season. It's his last in the NFL, and he's back with head coach Mike McCarthy, with whom he won a Super Bowl. It doesn't get much more storybook than that. Expect to see explosive plays every chance he gets.
But, is the team ready to win a championship? One NFL analyst is questioning that idea.
Pittsburgh Steelers still need help at key role
Rodgers is going to want to have the best players possible on his offense. That's a given. In a piece for CBS Sports out on Thursday, Josh Edwards says the team needs help at the tight end position.
"A year removed from wondering what Pittsburgh is going to do with Jonnu Smith, Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth, the team now finds itself in a position to add at the position," he states in the piece.
He adds, "The latter two tight ends remain on the roster, but depth features Robert Tonyan, Jaheim Bell, Lake Mcree and Lance Mason. The team could bring in help at that position."
It's certainly the case that the Steelers could benefit from beefing up their tight end room. While Rodgers will likely lean more on the wide receivers and running backs, it's crucial that he feels comfortable with their available tight ends, as well.
