Stan Van Gundy jokes about NBA adding football rule in Knicks/Pacers Game 2 to decline foul calls

During Game 2 of the Pacers/Knicks series, announcer Stan Van Gundy made a joke after a play that raised some eyebrows among NBA fans that watch football.

What rule did he propose?

Towards the end of the third quarter, there was a play that Karl-Anthony Towns was called for a foul on away from the play.

While this happened, Pacers' guard T.J. McConnell was driving to the basket and appeared to have an easy layup.

Van Gundy jokingly said that NBA teams should have the opportunity to decline the foul like in the NFL when teams decline penalties.

This would take away from the strategic part of the NBA, even though the Towns foul wasn't intentional, but it's a thought provoking suggestion.

Certain sports do have some overlap, so it would be interesting to see how a rule like that would do in the NBA.
