PSG’s star midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery has thrown his full support behind manager Luis Enrique’s claim which he made last year, dismissing panic after Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid last year.
When Mbappé left after contributing 40+ goals in the 2023/24 season, Enrique’s preseason comments raised eyebrows.
“If someone scores 40 goals, we won’t close the door. But based on my experience, I’d rather have four players who score 12,” he had said. “It’s a challenge to prove football is a collective sport—not just for the forwards, but for the whole team.”
Zaire Emery believes Enrique was right. Speaking to RTL Sport, the 19-year-old midfielder said, “I saw that the coach said that without Kylian, we’d score more goals. I don’t think he was wrong. The danger can come from anywhere—midfielders, defenders, attackers, they’ve all been scoring.”
That claim is now taking shape; PSG have already bagged the Ligue 1 title, enter the Coupe de France and Champions League finals with goals spread across the squad

Zaïre-Emery himself has clocked 46 appearances this season, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists, numbers that reflect a midfielder committed to balance, not spotlight.
Zaïre-Emery praised the chemistry in the team: “We’ve built a real team—players who work for each other and give their all every match. Everyone’s committed, and I think it’s working really well.”
