Arsenal are expected to have multiple incomings in the upcoming summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta is desperate to improve his roster next season as they aim to challenge for the Premier League crown.

But before going for targets, the Gunners are also keen on extending contracts with players they want to keep.

Star midfielder Thomas Partey's current contract will expire at the end of this campaign. The Ghanaian midfielder is happy in North London and wants to extend his contract, as reported via The Telegraph

Recently, Arteta also shared how Partey had a very assured campaign and was extremely consistent.

“Yes, I’d like Thomas Partey to stay and sign a new deal," Arteta told the reporters ahead of the Southampton game.

“Consistency-wise, it’s been his best season. I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional & he’s a really important player for us”.

According to reports, Arsenal are all set to offer Partey a short-term extension of one year with an option to add another year.

Which other clubs are interested in Partey?

The 31-year-old has featured in 51 appearances this season, scoring four goals. It is a remarkable achievement for the Ghanaian who has been marred with injuries in recent times.

Partey brings the much-needed physicality and steel to this Arsenal midfield filled with technical players. Therefore, Arteta is keen to keep hold of him for at least another year.

While the North Londoners are looking to extend his contract, the midfielder has had interest from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and several other Saudi Pro League clubs.

Partey joined Arsenal back in 2020 from Atletico Madrid and personally, in terms of availability, this has been his best campaign for the Gunners.

While Arsenal are confident to extend Partey's contract, they are also closing in on the Martin Zubimendi deal as Arteta aims to add depth in midfield.

The Gunners struggled for depth this season in several positions and therefore they need Zubimendi's technical ability and Partey's combativeness to challenge the top teams in the Premier League.

They may lose Jorginho, who is all set to leave the club at the end of this season. The Italian midfielder is reportedly in talks with Brazilian club Flamengo.
