Last week, veteran quarterback Phillip Rivers played his first game in over four years, having only about three days to prepare, and his first game back in action was against one of the best defenses in the league, the Seattle Seahawks.
Rivers finished the game with 120 passing yards, along with one touchdown and one interception. Now, when looking at the stats alone, they may not look as impressive as a signal caller in his prime, but they were not bad for a 44-year-old, who is clearly past his prime and being absent from the game.
After witnessing how the game turned out, with the Colts narrowly losing, Rivers received much praise from experts and colleagues, including the coach he will be facing this week, Kyle Shanahan, who said earlier this week that he respects Rivers.
The kind words have not stopped after Garrett Podell, CBS Sports analyst, dropped the boldest prediction of the week about how he believes the QB will play on 'Monday Night Football' against the San Francisco 49ers, as the Colts are still fighting for their playoff lives after losing four games straight since the injury to Daniel Jones.
Podell discussed that even though the Seahawks gave him trouble, he believes that "Rivers will take advantage of the lack of pressure... and post a 300-yard passing day against one of the NFC top teams."
If this does transpire, it may be one of the most memorable moments in NFL history and could be the driving force behind the Colts' playoff appearance, as it has already been an interesting season to say the least.
