A massive title change occurred on this week's WWE SmackDown tapings. The superstar who was involved in the title change has reacted on social media.
Ilja Dragunov won the United States Championship on the October 17th, 2025 edition of SmackDown. He answered Sami Zayn's open challenge for the United States Championship and defeated him to win the title. He successfully defended the title against Aleister Black, Nathan Frazer, Johnny Gargano, and others on the blue brand.
During the taping of the December 26 edition of SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes defeated Dragunov to win the US Championship. On X, he reacted to his win by posting a GIF, without exactly spoiling the outcome of the match that is yet to be televised.

Carmelo Hayes reacted to his first year on the WWE main roster
Carmelo Hayes was the first pick for SmackDown in the 2024 Draft. He reacted to completing a year on the main roster. During his first year, he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and also shared the ring with major names, including the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
On social media, Hayes wrote:
"Regardless of what was expected or not this year, I never measured my success on championships or winning matches. When I got the ball it was a first down or touchdown. Stole the show and had banger matches with anyone and everyone. Traveled the world and honed my craft against the best. Wrestled the WWE Champion 10+ times and got to work and learn from legends and future hall of famers. Im winning in every way possible. I killed shit this year and was drafted first for a reason. You can’t deny what won’t be denied. Haven’t even started cooking yet. #Happy1Year #Marathon,"Hayes has now captured his first singles title on the main roster.
