How to recruit Thralls in ARK Lost Colony

One of the great new features of ARK Lost Colony is the ability to recruit Thralls, and create your own little army. This is as close as PVE-solo players are probably going to get to feeling the joy of aggressive PVP combat in the game, so it should be a feature that goes over well. However, you have to put in some work to unlock these minions.

It all goes hand-in-hand with the new gothic megacity found on the Lost Colony map in Lost Ark, but it’s likely that you can transfer your Thralls to other maps, like any other tamed creature. If you’re trying to get more Red Element, as well as build an army of Thralls, here’s what you need to know.

How to recruit a Thrall army in ARK Lost Colony and acquire Red Element

If you want to recruit Thralls in ARK Lost Colony, you need to head to the section of the map that features the huge, dilapidated city. You’ll acquire both by interacting with the Towers found in the city (Outposts), and completing the missions they give you. Do not leave the mission area until it’s complete, or you will abort said mission.

There are a variety of difficulties for these missions, with Alpha, Beta, and Gamma difficulties. You’ll have simple objectives in these missions like “destroy every Structure in the Outpost”, but it’s not especially complex. It can be annoying to find the missions, though. We recommend going down the streets of the city on this ARK Lost Colony map, and eventually you'll start finding missions to complete to build your Thrall army.

Success in the mission will reward you with recruited Thralls in ARK Lost Colony and other loot, but they aren’t easy. The NPCs are powerful and aggressive, but success will net you the resources and minions you’re after. These missions often also have powerful bosses to defeat, after your primary objective, so keep that in mind.

Bring your best gear and tames with you for combat, like the powerful new Aureliax. Lots of the enemies have flamethrowers, so have ways to deal with that (Extinguisher Grenades come to mind).

Sometimes enemy targets glitch out into high areas, so bring a ranged weapon, to potentially those targets. While most of the missions are down on the ground level, the higher up bridge areas of the city can also have missions. We recommend avoiding those, because if an enemy target falls off the bridge (which is very likely), you cannot go down after it. You will just be unable to complete your Outpost mission, and waste a bunch of time.

When you defeat the final enemy of the mission, you’ll get a key, and you take that back to the Vault, which will typically be really close to you. The Vault spawns in the mission location so it's easy to see. This is how you can get Red Element, as well as recruit Thralls. Blue missions will get you two Thralls, and the Green missions give you one mediocre Thrall. In addition, you get a pile of loot, but it’s all quite random. That's all there is to recruiting Thralls in ARK Lost Colony.
