SPOILER: Top AEW champion suffers shocking upset loss

AEW was in Manchester, England, for the weekly TV tapings. The company aired the Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite this Saturday, alongside part one of Collision Holiday Bash, and also filmed the Saturday part of Collision.

This week's edition of Dynamite featured two huge Continental Classic matches. This year's tournament has been unpredictable with some major upsets. The show also had the return of former World Champion MJF. The night was capped off with the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal as Ricochet and Bandido were the co-winners of the star-studded matchup.

The tapings for the December 20 edition of Collision featured a major upset. Kevin Knight picked up a huge win over AEW Unified Champion and Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada. The two stars battled it out in a Gold League match of the Continental Classic. This is a major loss for The Rainmaker, who has a 2-1 record in the tournament. He won his previous matches against PAC and Jungle Jack Perry. However, he did lose to Kyle Fletcher in another singles encounter. This loss opens up the Gold League, with every competitor having a decent chance to advance in the tournament.

The AEW tapings involved another major upset

AEW star Mercedes Moné was also in action this week. She kicked off an open challenge for her RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship. British wrestling sensation Alex Windor answered the challenge and also managed to dethrone the champ during the match.

This encounter will also air on the December 20 episode of Collision. The CEO recently lost the ROH Women's TV title to Red Velvet at Final Battle 2025. This took her title count down to 12.

Now with another loss, her tally comes down to 11. The loss at this week's tapings will definitely derail Moné's momentum. It will be interesting to see how the star bounces back in the coming weeks.
