After being involved in a fiery car wreck in Los Angeles on Thursday morning and being put under a medically-induced coma, 5-star University of Southern California commit Alijah Arenas has been released from the hospital, a statement from his family revealed.
"We are grateful to share that Alijah Arenas has been released from the hospital and is now resting comfortably under close watch," the statement said, as shared by ESPN's Shams Charania on Wednesday via X.
"While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support."
"The family continues to ask for privacy during this time as they focus fully on Alijah's healing and well-being."
The son of the Wizards' former 3-time All-Star, MVP candidate and career 25.0-point scorer with the franchise Gilbert Arenas, Alijah was brought out of his medically-induced coma shortly after his arrival at the hospital. Upon opening his eyes, Arenas reportedly asked his family, 'Did anyone get hurt?' by writing the message on a piece of paper.
The 18-year-old committed to USC after a sensational high school basketball career, as he averaged 30.9 points spanning three seasons and 97 total games for Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, California.
