Rockets starter lists only two-guard with more upside than his backcourt partner

Jalen Green has struggled mightily in his first taste of postseason action. The fourth-year shooting guard has averaged 15.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 39.0% from the field, 31.3% from three-point range and 60.0% from the free-throw line.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets are on the brink of elimination as they are in a 3-1 hole to the Golden State Warriors. Green has been held under ten points in each of their three losses, while erupting for 38 points in their lone victory.

Despite his struggles, his backcourt running mate has the utmost confidence in the former second overall pick, claiming that Anthony Edwards is the only two-guard with more upside. The Dunk Central shared comments from Fred VanVleet, tweeting:

"Fred VanVleet says the only shooting guard in the NBA who might have more upside than Jalen Green is Anthony Edwards "I don't know if you can go get another 2 guard with the upside or the talent level. (Anthony Edwards) maybe in Minnesota. I don't know, does [Devin Booker] have more talent than Jalen or is he more skilled and more polished and more experienced and older? ... I don't know what Jalen will look like when he's 26, 27, 28 after playoff series," VanVleet stated. "And that's the upside, where it's like potential can get a little intoxicating. He has the talent. There's no reason for him not to reach that level. He's got to go through it; he's got to fail."

Green was much better in the regular season as he averaged 21.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.4 apg, 0.9 spg and 0.3 bpg while shooting 42.3% from the field, 35.4% from three-point range and 81.3% from the free-throw line. He made headlines after his postseason debut, claiming that the court looked huge and he had shaky legs.

The 23-year-old has been mentioned as a possible trade candidate as the Rockets are reportedly in the market for a star this summer. Houston will look to keep their season alive when they face the Warriors in Game 5 on Wednesday.
