Seth Rollins has finally revealed the origin of his WWE name. The Visionary is currently out of action with an injury and had to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship earlier this year.
Speaking with Julian Edelman on the Games with Names podcast, Seth Rollins shared that WWE was not interested in using his previous ring name, Tyler Black.
"Dusty, Cody's dad, came up with it. I was Tyler Black, which I got from two movie characters that I really liked. Tyler Durden from Fight Club and Sirius Black from Harry Potter. WWE wants to own me, so I own Tyler Black in perpetuity. If I leave, I could still be Tyler Black and they didn't want nothing to do with that at the time," said Rollins. He noted that Dusty Rhodes saw the name "Seth Rollins" on a list and loved it. Rollins did a hilarious impression of the legend as well, and you can check it out in the Instagram post below.
"But Rollins was on there because I was a big Henry Rollins fan. And I took this list to Dusty Rhodes, who was the head of creative and developmental at the time, and it was his job to suss out a name, and figure out what he wanted. And he just really liked the name Seth Rollins," he added.Rollins defeated Rhodes to win the Men's Crown Jewel Championship at the PLE earlier this year in Australia. However, he suffered an injury during the match and was then betrayed by The Vision shortly after as a way to write him off WWE television while he recovered.
Seth Rollins reacts to John Cena's WWE retirement
Seth Rollins shared his thoughts on John Cena's retirement from WWE. The Cenation Leader tapped out to Gunther in his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13.
Speaking on the Ross Tucker podcast, Rollins claimed that it didn't feel like Cena gave up and suggested that he was passing the torch to The Ring General instead.
"I don't know, I have so many mixed feelings on it. John is one of the greatest of all time, his whole thing is never give up, but it didn't feel like he was- people were all over him for giving up, but it didn't feel like he was giving up. It felt like he was fading off into the sunset, like he had done his job, was happy to do it, and was handing the ball off," he said.“I wouldn't have tapped.” - Becky Lynch “People were all over him for giving up, for tapping out, but it didn't FEEL like he was giving it up. It felt like he was fading off into the sunset. He had done his job, he was happy to do it, and he was handing the ball off.” - Seth
It will be interesting to see when the former World Heavyweight Champion will be cleared to return to the ring.
