Seahawks' Sam Darnold reveals injury status heading into NFC Championship vs. Rams

The Seattle Seahawks were given a major scare late in practice last week ahead of the San Francisco 49ers matchup.

Sam Darnold popped up on the injury report with an oblique injury, and Drew Lock was taking first-team practice reps. Fans were, reasonably, concerned about his health. Fortunately, Darnold played and looked just fine against the 49ers.

But now, with the Los Angeles Rams next in the NFC Championship game, how is Darnold faring with this issue? According to Brady Henderson of ESPN, Darnold revealed some positive news for Seahawks fans.

"I feel really good," Darnold said. "Feeling really good this whole week. I feel like the process is going right long where it should be, so I feel really good for Sunday."

After the major scare last week, this update from Darnold is some very good news. Having a healthy quarterback for the biggest game of the year is a must for the Seahawks.

Seeing how the Denver Broncos odds have cratered in the wake of Bo Nix's injury has highlighted just how important Darnold is to this team.

The left oblique injury was a real scare last week, and while he played through it - putting up 124 yards and one touchdown on 17 attempts in a blowout win - there was still some concern going forward.

But Darnold is feeling good and is set to start for the Seahawks in the NFC Championship against a stout Rams defense.

Darnold being good to go, combined with Charles Cross coming off the injury report on Friday, is some very welcome injury news for the Seahawks.

Losing Zach Charbonnet stings a lot, but with Kenneth Walker and the rest of the offense coming to play, the Seahawks should be able to beat any team in the league, including the NFC West rival Rams in the Championship game.
