At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Adult Swim announced a Rick and Morty spinoff starring Keith David, who made a surprise appearance at the show’s panel on Friday. The series, entitled President Curtis, stars David reprising his longtime role as the titular President Andre Curtis. Rick and Morty executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano will also lead the new series.
“President Curtis has always been a blast to play,” David said in a statement. “Getting to explore his world more deeply in this new series is a dream. I can’t wait for fans to see what kind of chaos he stirs up when Rick isn’t around to steal the spotlight.”
Here’s what we know about President Curtis so far.
President Curtis Storyline
According to the show’s logline, President Curtis “follows the Commander-in-Chief and his eccentric staff as they tackle the kind of crises that Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with – from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena.”
President Curtis Cast and Crew
In addition to David, President Curtis will also star his former Community co-star Jim Rash and his Hazbin Hotel co-star Stephanie Beatriz. We know these actors already have great chemistry, so although we don’t yet know who Rash and Beatriz will voice (though it’s safe to assume they’ll each voice a member of President Curtis’s staff), we can expect incredible entertainment.
The rest of the cast has yet to be announced, but it’s possible that Rick and Morty stars Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden pop in for the occasional crossover episode.
“President Curtis has always been one of our favorite characters to write—he’s the only person in the multiverse who can go toe-to-toe with Rick and still hold office,” Harmon and Siciliano said in a joint statement. “Now we finally get to go on sci-fi missions from Curtis’s point of view. And with Keith David leading the charge, it’s going to be a wild ride.”
Harmon and Siciliano are joined by executive producers Danielle Uhlarik, Monica Mitchell, and Steve Levy.
President Curtis Premiere Date
So far, President Curtis doesn’t have a premiere date on Adult Swim. The initial announcement at SDCC ’25 wasn’t even accompanied by first-look clips—just a teaser image. However, everyone involved in the project seems thrilled about it, so it will hopefully premiere sooner rather than later.
“This is a series we would have greenlit even if it didn’t have anything at all to do with Rick and Morty,” said Adult Swim prexy Michael Ouweleen. “President Andre Curtis is just that good of a character. The rest of the world the team has fleshed out is super fun and totally stands on its own. We can’t wait for you to see it.”
The Rick and Morty Universe
Since Rick and Morty debuted in 2013, it’s expanded into multiple comic books, a series of claymation short films (Rick and Morty: The Non-Canonical Adventures created by Lee Hardcastle), anime short films, board and card games, video games, and more. President Curtis follows spin-offs Vindicators 2: Last Stand Between Earth and Doom and Rick and Morty: The Anime.
In 2023, Harmon teased the possibility of a full-length Rick and Morty movie. It’s clear the franchise isn’t slowing down any time soon.
