He won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2022, along with earning a Pro Bowl nod and a First-Team All-Pro in his first NFL season.

In year two, Gardner had his second straight Pro Bowl season, along with a second consecutive First-Team All-Pro nod to begin an incredible career.

In the offseason, Gardner signed a huge $120 million extension to stay with the Jets, but now, he's heading to the Colts after just three and a half seasons in New York.

It's a completely unexpected outcome for the Jets' superstar cornerback. While he hasn't been as good as he once was, allowing a career-high 98.1 passer rating, he was still a huge part of the Jets' defense.

Now, Gardner leaves the 1-7 Jets to join a 7-2 Colts team looking to make it back to the playoffs, and evidently, based on this move, go on a Super Bowl run.

This is one of the more stunning trade deadline deals in recent NFL history, and Gardner's message to the Jets faithful is a simple but emotional one. It's the end of an era. An incredible one, that's ending way too soon.
