Now that the season has wrapped up, we can turn our attention to the offseason. There are plenty of headlines to be talked about when it comes to stars looking for a new team in 2026.
The league could look much different with guys like Kyle Schwarber, Cody Bellinger, Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, and many other big names on the open market. On the other side, some teams would much rather make upgrades on the trade route.
Expect some of these clubs to be aggressive in their pursuit, while others will see how the market is going. Either way, this offseason will be filled with players looking for a new opportunity.
Tigers' trade prediction nabs two-time All-Star to replace Gleyber Torres
The Detroit Tigers are at risk of losing Gleyber Torres. Torres is an unrestricted free agent and would be a big loss if he signs elsewhere.
Torres played in 145 regular-season games, hitting .256/.358/.387 with 16 home runs and 74 runs batted in. He was a vital part of the team's success, and re-signing him could be a challenge.
Instead, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter believes the club should trade with the Toronto Blue Jays to acquire Bo Bichette.
"Bo Bichette does not turn 28 years old until March 5, and after a down year in 2024, he returned to elite form offensively this season with a .311/.357/.483 line that included 44 doubles, 18 home runs and 94 RBI in 139 games."
Bichette's defensive numbers at shortstop would suggest a shift to second base. This would be the perfect move for Detroit, and as Reuter suggests, could open up the door for the Tigers to show Tarik Skubal they are serious in trying to build a World Series champion.
"It would also represent a significant move to show Tarik Skbal the front office is serious about building a title contender, as the Tigers try to hammer out a long-term extension with their ace before he hits the open market after the 2026 season."
