The New York Jets traded cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday morning. The trade was completed less than four hours before the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon.
The 25-year-old will now go from a team with a 1-7 record to a team with a 7-2 record. Shortly after the news of Gardner's trade being announced, the cornerback took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say farewell to the only NFL team he has ever played for.
"New York it's been real (green heart emoji),"Gardner wrote. The Indianapolis Colts traded wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and first-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027 in exchange for Gardner. The New York Jets drafted the former Cincinnati Bearcats standout with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Sauce Gardner earned NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro.
