As per some recent media reports, Ishan Kishan is likely to replace Rishabh Pant as keeper-batter for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which will be played at home from January 11 to January 18. Pant was part of the Indian team for the ODIs against South Africa, but did not play any of the matches. In fact, his last one-dayer for India was back in August 2024.
As for Kishan, he has been picked in the Indian team for the T20Is against New Zealand as well as the 2026 T20 World Cup. He has made a comeback on a basis of some stellar performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and also scored a stunning ton in Jharkhand's opening match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Apart from Kishan, there are also talks of Jitesh Sharma being picked for the ODIs.
