"Worst it's been in years" COD pro criticizes Warzone as cheaters run rampant

Almost every veteran Call of Duty Warzone player must have encountered cheaters at some point. These are people who often use cheats that allow them a significant advantage in the game. In a recent video, the COD creator and Expel lashed out at an individual who was aim-locking his opponents to win the gunfights. Expel took to his X page and wrote in a post:

"Every match of Warzone is packed to the brim with cheaters. This is the worst it's been in years. Most of the solos matches I've lost this week have been purely to the hand of cheaters. GGs I guess, @CallofDuty"

As Expel's post drew eyes online, fans began empathising with his experience in the comment section. The content creator would later post a nearly 12-minute clip showing how the cheater tried aim-locking other players, only to fail in his final fight.

While the cheater lost the match, the blatant hacking of the system came as a concern to many Warzone players. An X user, @jamese9930, echoed Expel's opinion on how the game's condition is the worst it has been in a long time:

"Just watched your latest YouTube on this. Its sad, we got like 3-4 weeks without hackers and now its back, worse than ever! Really frustrating."

These player reports, and various experiences narrated by individuals like Expel, highlight a flaw in how COD's anti-cheat, Ricochet, is perhaps failing to stop and eliminate cheating at various levels, as @marko_pejsik analyzed in their response:

"Yesterday not only did I have resurgence lobbies from CDL But also wallhackers. So the game is back to its previous state. Ricochet sleeps again"

One player, @PmhPm, declared the game unplayable. The player may have encountered issues that led them to turn away from the game for good, as they took to X to write:

"Unplayable atm Don’t think I’ll be returning"

Finally, @SaviourLad1592, revealed that they were obsessed with Warzone at one time. However, the player switched to Battlefield REDSEC when it was released. In their experience, there was a good reason behind this switch.

Team Ricochet's most recent Warzone update came via the Call of Duty blog on December 4, 2025, when Season 1 was released. In this blog post, the developers notified fans of the new requirements needed to start playing. One layer of security comes from TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot being necessary for gameplay. For another layer, Team Ricochet has been actively working against cheat providers.

According to the post, the team has shut down over 50 cheat providers in the last year. Unfortunately, the cheating problem persists in-game, as it was made apparent by the fans in Expel's comment section.

Overall, it's a difficult situation to fix entirely. However, it would appear that Team Ricochet is constantly trying to make efforts to make the game cheater-free. The efficacy of the efforts can perhaps only be verified by Warzone players themselves.
