Mina Shirakawa explained why she joined AEW

Earlier this year, Mina Shirakawa became an official member of the AEW roster. Since then, she has competed in some high-profile matches and established herself as a fan favorite on the roster. She has even expressed a determination to become a champion in All Elite Wrestling.

During an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Mina Shirakawa said she loves working for a boss who loves wrestling so much. She also noted that she wanted to wrestle in the US earlier, but the pandemic prevented her from doing so. Therefore, she thought this was the perfect time to make the jump.

"And so when I came to wrestle in AEW and I was so like every match after every match Tony Khan watch our match every time every matches and after match he said to us, 'Amazing! F**king great! ......I’m so so so happy because in Japan the top person sometime watch the match but not every time. So yeah I was so impressed. Yeah. And Tony Khan loves the wrestling so much. So, oh, I like that boss. I love the boss. And I think for our life that timing is very important, right? Yeah. So for a long time I want to wrestle in the US but pandemic happened so I didn’t get a chance to come here but last year I thought maybe that is timing for me that’s the best timing for me to come here," she said.

It will be interesting to see what's next for Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa in Tony Khan's company.
