Saints' $51 million Chase Young contract looks like highway robbery

The New Orleans Saints are not a playoff team this season, but looking into the future, there is a lot to be hopeful about. Chris Olave and Tyler Shough have been great and look to be the future of the team.

But, on defense, pass rusher Chase Young has looked great this season. One of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs, Young is having a great season with the Saints.

Following his dominant Week 17 game, which featured a strip-sack touchdown, Young looks to be a steal in free agency on a three-year, $51 million deal.

Chase Young for $51 million has been a steal for Saints

ESPN's Katherine Terrell highlighted just what kind of production Young has provided for the Saints this season on his $51 million, three-year deal.

"The Saints gave Young a three-year, $51 million deal in March, and it has paid off big time," Cronin writes.

Despite missing the first five games of the 2025 NFL season, Young has 8.5 sacks and has been dominant as of late.

His 33-yard strip sack, fumble recovery for a touchdown, was one of the best individual plays by a defender this season. He ripped the ball from Cam Ward's hands and scored a huge touchdown to help beat the Tennessee Titans.

Young is only 26 years old, having one of the best seasons of his NFL career, and locked in for the next two seasons on a $51 million deal, which looks to be a complete steal for the Saints.

Hitting on defensive linemen can be hard in free agency, but Young has been a star for the Saints and could become even more of a steal over the next two seasons if he continues to play as well as he has this season.
