Kyle Shanahan was 'extremely nervous' watching this Brock Purdy play

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Chicago Bears on 'Sunday Night Football' in a thrilling back-and-forth affair that came down to the Niners' defense getting a stop on the last play of the game.

Throughout the game, San Francisco scored offensive touchdowns and made many plays that had a significant impact.

One of those plays put 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan on edge, and no, it is not the opening-drive pick-six thrown by Brock Purdy on the first play from scrimmage.

Late in the third quarter, when the game was tied at 28, Purdy pulled off what might be the best play of his career after he kept the play alive, avoiding multiple sacks before finding fullback Kyle Juszczyk in the left corner of the endzone to give the Niners the lead.

A big-time play like that could be looked back on as one of the most game-changing moments, especially with the 49ers taking the win, but that doesn't mean that, when it happened, coach Shanahan wasn't on the edge of his seat.

"He made me extremely nervous, and then he made me extremely happy," Shanahan said during the press conference after the game.

Sunday's win by the 49ers now sets up a winner-take-all matchup for the NFC West and the first seed in the conference against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18 for the final game of the regular season.

If San Francisco wins, they will be granted home-field advantage throughout the postseason and will attempt to become the first team to play in the Super Bowl in the same year their city hosts the event.
