Former NFL player turned analyst Ryan Clark didn't mince words when discussing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry's decision to have the Board of Supervisors create a committee to search for a new head coach for the LSU Tigers instead of athletic director Scott Woodward. Clark, who is an LSU alumnus, was upset with the comments.

During Thursday's episode of ESPN's "First Take," the former Pittsburgh Steelers star dragged late conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk while numbering the "most ridiculous things" Landry said this week. Landry expressed his desire to build a statue to honor Kirk.

"First off, it’s the second most ridiculous thing he said this week," Clark said. "The first was standing on campus and saying he wanted to put a statue of somebody that doesn’t represent the people of Louisiana, doesn’t represent the players and the students at LSU, doesn’t represent the executives that work there. That was the first dumb thing he said this week. This is the second dumb thing, amongst a lot of dumb things that he said.

"Scott Woodward, for whatever he is, is a man who got Jay Johnson – last I checked, the 2025 Louisiana State University Tigers baseball team was in the White House ‘getting the gat’ recently. He was there in 2019 – it’s one of the greatest college football teams of all time. He also was there when he said you know what, we’ll go out there and get Kim Mulkey. She brings a championship to the school with Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson."

Landry was personally involved in the decision to fire Brian Kelly, and now he's looking for his replacement.

Ryan Clark defends Russell Wilson after Sean Payton takes swipe at Giants' QB

Before going off on Jeff Landry, Ryan Clark called out Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton over his comments about Russell Wilson. After the Broncos came back from a 19-point deficit to beat the New York Giants, Payton took a jab at Wilson.

Clark celebrated when Wilson took to social media and blasted his former coach.

“About time, Russ. And I ain’t mad at you,” Clark said. “This man has chosen over and over again to totally dismiss professionalism when it comes to Russell Wilson. Yet show a level of restraint and respect and professionalism in other situations that goes beyond patience."

This hasn't been the first time Ryan Clark has gotten involved in heated conversations, and knowing his personality, it won't be the last.
