Scottie Scheffler has made history again by winning the PGA Tour Player of the Year award for the fourth straight season. Only Tiger Woods has ever won the Jack Nicklaus Award four times in a row, putting Scheffler in elite company.

Scheffler won the award after PGA Tour players voted, beating out McIlroy, Fleetwood, and Griffin. The win also moves Scheffler ahead of Rory McIlroy in career Player of the Year awards. Before this season, both were tied with three awards each, but Scheffler’s strong year put him ahead of McIlroy.

Fans were quick to react on X after NUCLR Golf shared the news. Some poked fun at Rory McIlroy, with one saying,

"Wow! Rory fans about to riot"

Another wrote,

"Good glad that little retard Rory didn’t get it"

McIlroy, meanwhile, had a strong year, winning a playoff at the Masters to complete his career Grand Slam and adding titles at Pebble Beach and The Players Championship.

One user congratulated Scheffler but also noted his 1–4–0 record at Bethpage Black, which didn’t help the US team win against Europe, writing,

"well deserved, man's a machine (outside of his ryder cup performance)"

Another optimistic fan wrote:

"I see a 5th coming this year."

One chimed in:

"The single most "not shocked" post of all time."

Scheffler had an outstanding season, winning six events, including two major championships, the PGA Championship and the British Open. These wins brought him very close to achieving a career Grand Slam.

PGA Tour CEO applauds Scottie Scheffler’s stellar season

Scottie Scheffler had another dominant year on the PGA Tour, winning six events despite a delayed start at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February. His wins this season brought his career total to 19, and he finished inside the top 25 in all 20 events he played, with 17 of those in the top 10.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp praised Scheffler’s consistency, saying:

"Scottie's consistent level of success has been nothing short of spectacular as he continues to chase history on the PGA Tour, and we're excited to see what he will deliver in 2026." (via BBC Sport)

Scottie Scheffler also became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2000 to lead the Tour in scoring average across all four rounds. In 2025, he topped 17 statistical categories, ranging from tee-to-green accuracy to converting over 36 percent of bogeys into birdies or better, earning more than $27 million in official prize money.
