Rob Van Dam has revealed why he was left disappointed after his first WrestleMania match. The Showcase of Immortals is held in high prestige by pro wrestlers, and featuring on the card is an aspiration for many.

Over the years, many stars have etched their names in history at WrestleMania, and RVD has some good memories from the Show of Shows. However, he wasn't feeling good after he wrestled his first match at WrestleMania back in 2002.

Speaking on Toronto Sun's No Holds Barred, Rob Van Dam shared some memories from WrestleMania X-8. The event saw the Whole F'N Show take on William Regal for the Intercontinental championship. Even though he came out on top, he was left disappointed, as he thought fans didn't like the match.

"That was my first WrestleMania. It was my first time ever being in front of that many people... So, what I remember is I was out there with William Regal, and I couldn't hear the crowd, and I thought that they didn't like the match, and I couldn't figure it out. I was disappointed, even a little bit frustrated, because I thought the match was going well," he said.

However, when Van Dam made his way to the backstage after the match, he saw people appreciating the match.

"When I got through the curtain afterwards, you know, all the agents were standing and clapping, and they loved the match," he mentioned.

WrestleMania X-8 was held at SkyDome in Toronto. The arena held nearly 70,000 fans, and RVD said sometimes in such a large building the noise can travel straight up. This might have been the reason why he felt fans were not reacting well to his match.

Rob Van Dam is closer to an in-ring return

Rob Van Dam recently shared an update on his in-ring future. The WWE Hall of Famer has been out of action since suffering a double heel fracture in April this year.

The injury has kept him on the sidelines as he continues to recover. In an interview with TMZ Sports, he said that he was feeling better and revealed he has a match scheduled in Australia in February.

Notably, RVD had previously said that he was in talks to return to WWE to be a part of John Cena's retirement tour before his injury derailed the plans.
