Revisiting Knicks' green St. Patrick's Day jerseys and the players who wore them

1 hour ago 2

Whether you loved or hated them, you probably remember that the New York Knicks had a tradition of wearing dark green jerseys on or around St. Patrick's Day.

Some people may have argued they were too similar to New York's rivals, the Boston Celtics. Regardless, it was an interesting switch from the orange and blue.

Notable former Knicks players to wear the St. Patrick's Day jerseys include Carmelo Anthony, Stephon Marbury, and Nate Robinson.

According to research from ESPN's Anthony Gharib, New York had a 3-3 record in the special edition uniforms.

"New York went deep into its uniform closet each St. Patrick's Day with an all-green look that included orange and black trims throughout," Gharib wrote Tuesday. "The Knicks debuted the threads against the Detroit Pistons on March 17, 2006, and it brought them good luck."

The Knicks last wore the St. Patrick's Day jerseys during the 2011-12 season, and the initiative ended ahead of the 2017-18 season when Nike became the NBA's official uniform producer.

Even to this day, there are Knicks fans who attend a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden donning the green jerseys.
