The Boston Red Sox aren't really in a position to be sitting prominent infielders.
Alex Bregman is out with a "significant" injury. Triston Casas is out for the year. Rafael Devers is just hanging out at DH.
But on Sunday, Trevor Story isn't in Boston's lineup.
They've got new call-up Marcelo Mayer at third base in Bregman's spot, with backup David Hamilton getting the start at shortstop.
Baltimore won both games of Saturday's doubleheader, and Boston is looking for some kind of spark.
Since April 22, Story is 14-for-105, a .133 average. He has just two extra-base hits in that 26-game span.

If Mayer plays well, he could actually be setting himself up to play shortstop full-time when Bregman returns.
That seems a ways down the road, though.
In the meantime, Boston will need Story to work through some of his troubles.
The Red Sox could also explore an intriguing move of Ceddanne Rafaela back to the infield to make room for a Roman Anthony call-up. But at the moment, that's not something that appears to be in play.
