INDIANAPOLIS — Jonquel Jones came up big when the Liberty needed her the most in Saturday’s 90-88 win over the Indiana Fever.
Jones powered the Liberty to a fourth-quarter comeback, scoring 14 of her team-high 26 points in the final 10 minutes.
Sabrina Ionescu fed Jones on the perimeter for back-to-back 3s.
The six-point swing in the span of 42 seconds gave the Liberty their first lead of the fourth quarter.
“We know what she’s capable of doing and to be able to kind of be a part of her own run was really fun,” Ionescu said after the win. “I was just looking for her every time I could. Believed in her shot and knew she was going to get some great looks and kind of kept pouring into her, knowing that we needed her to go out and be aggressive in order for us to get back into the game.”
Jones felt she started the game by setting an aggressive tone. But her assertiveness and focus dwindled as the game went on.
After the Liberty’s epic third-quarter collapse, Jones managed to lock back in for the win.

“I kind of just talked myself out of it and just understanding there’s no room for that,” Jones said. “And so it’s just going out there and playing, trusting my teammates and trusting that we’re going to make the right plays for each other because that’s what makes us successful as a team and just playing the game and being in our heads, I think … getting within ourselves and not really focusing on what we can do to help our team.”
Leonie Fiebich exited Saturday’s game early in the second quarter after Lexie Hull’s knee slammed into her left shin.

Fiebich watched the rest of the game from the team’s bench.
After the game, coach Sandy Brondello said the collision might have hit a nerve in Fiebich’s shin.
“That’s hard. She’s big for us,” Brondello said. “JJ had to go a few more minutes tonight and they all had to go a few more minutes. … That’s how important this win is with this team. They want to win a championship. So do we, so hopefully Leo will be OK.”

Nyara Sabally was a late scratch for Saturday’s game.
Sabally went through her pregame warmup routine as usual before feeling some discomfort in her right knee.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Liberty ruled Sabally out.
Sabally isn’t expected to miss any additional time and doesn’t have an underlying injury, a team source told The Post.
Sabally missed all of her rookie season with a right knee injury, and the Liberty are proactive with her load management. Sabally sat the second half of Tuesday’s practice for rest and additional treatment.
