The Las Vegas Raiders could still be in the market for a wide receiver. Though the team added Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton Jr. within the first four rounds of April's draft, Las Vegas lacks experience and proven production in the position group outside of Jakobi Meyers.
Meyers and superstar tight end Brock Bowers will serve as the top two pass-catchers for quarterback Geno Smith this year, but finding another playmaker should be a priority for general manager John Spytek, who has done a nice job rebuilding a Raiders' roster that posted a 4-13 record in 2024.
Las Vegas could go the free agency route to fill the need, but Last Word on Sports' Liam Rebellato believes the Raiders are a top landing spot for disgruntled Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
The Las Vegas Raiders are a team to watch. They lack a true WR1 on the roster and have the cap space needed to lock McLaurin up long term. Pairing him with Jakobi Meyers and star tight end Brock Bowers would give the Raiders a much more dynamic passing attack and a clear top option for Geno Smith.
McLaurin's future with the Commanders is in an uncertain spot, as the star receiver is seeking a new deal from the franchise and has grown frustrated with the lack of progress in contract negotiations, per FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz.
"Sources: Commanders All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin has made it clear to the team that he’s frustrated with the lack of progress on a long-term deal. As I previously reported, McLaurin unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll report for mandatory minicamp. McLaurin is entering the final year of his contract. Talks have been minimal," Schultz recently wrote on X.
Las Vegas would be an electric landing spot for McLaurin if Washington decides to trade him due to stalled contract talks. The two-time Pro Bowler would form a dynamic trio with Meyers and Bowers and take the Raiders' offense to the next level.
The Raiders have the draft capital and money to acquire McLaurin and sign him to a lucrative extension. The Commanders likely won't entertain any trade talks surrounding the Ohio State product if a Day 1 pick isn't included, but paying that price would be well worth it for a bonafide No.1 receiver who is coming off one of the best years of his career.
Though McLaurin landing with Pete Carroll in Las Vegas would be exhilarating, it's hard to envision a world where he isn't in Washington with Jayden Daniels in 2025. We expect the Commanders to sign their cornerstone player to a new deal sometime before the season kicks off.
