Gianluigi Donnarumma has become one of the most sought-after names in world football.
The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from AC Milan in 2021, is now at the center of a potential summer tug-of-war involving eight times Premier League champions Manchester City.
According to Football Insider, City boss Pep Guardiola has placed Donnarumma high on his shortlist as the club eyes a major overhaul in the upcoming window.
With Ederson’s future uncertain, Donnarumma is widely seen as one of the top three goalkeepers in the world and is said to be tracked closely.
Former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown believes the Italian fits City’s ambitions perfectly.

“Donnarumma is at the very top of his game at PSG,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s happy there, playing a key role in getting them to the Champions League final, and he’s a regular for Italy as well”
"So the only thing that’s going to make him move away from there is money – they’d have to offer him an increase on what he’s on at PSG"
“It would be up to Man City to come up with that offer and make that move happen, a move that would rank as a shock in some quarters.
According to Capology, Italian Gross Salary is €349,615 per week (Inclusive of Bonus and Base) in Paris. For City to lure him away, they’d likely need to break their wage structure or match that figure.
Donnarumma, who made eight crucial saves in PSG’s 3-1 aggregate win over Arsenal in the Champions League semifinals, has left his future in PSG’s hands. “I’m under contract for one more year… It’s up to the club,” he said post-match.
The Italian shot-stopper’s five-year contract, signed in July 2021, runs until June 2026. However, with interest building and PSG yet to extend his deal, the summer could bring surprises.
Manchester United also interested
Manchester United are also monitoring the Donnarumma situation. As reported by Fichajes, the Red Devils are preparing a €60 million bid, viewing him as a long-term solution.
However, The Mirror reports that current No.1 Andre Onana is unwilling to leave and intends to fight for his spot. That internal standoff could complicate any move.
Still, if Donnarumma becomes available, United may test PSG’s resolve and Onana’s patience with a bold offer.
