Packers land 'Monday Night Football' showdown with Eagles as tush push battle looms

The Green Bay Packers are getting another shot at the defending Super Bowl champions — and this time, it’s personal.

On Tuesday’s edition of Good Morning America, the NFL officially announced that the Packers will host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10 of the 2025 season for Monday Night Football. The game, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10 at Lambeau Field, was revealed live by ESPN broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

While the matchup would be high-profile regardless — a playoff rematch against the reigning champs — Aikman pointed to one element that adds a little extra fuel to the fire: Green Bay’s open campaign to get the Eagles’ controversial “tush push” play banned from the league.

"The other kind of storyline of that game is the fact that this whole 'tush push,' it was the Packers who actually... they were the biggest proponents of trying to get it taken out of the game," Aikman said. "It hasn't been ruled out yet but there's a good chance we won't have it this year."

Earlier this offseason, the Packers submitted a formal proposal aimed at outlawing the play that helped power Philadelphia’s dominant short-yardage game. Though their initial language was viewed as flawed — targeting only an “immediate” push behind the snap — the NFL has since revived the conversation.

According to Pro Football Talk, the league is now expected to consider a revised rule during the owners meetings in Minneapolis on May 20-21 that would prohibit any push or pull of a ballcarrier on the field. The Washington Post's Mark Maske reports that owners are likely to vote on the updated version.

With Green Bay potentially playing a quiet but central role in reshaping league rules, it makes this Week 10 clash all the more compelling.

The Eagles defeated the Packers twice in 2024 — once in Brazil in the NFL’s season opener and again in the Wild Card Round to eliminate Green Bay from the playoffs. Philadelphia went on to win the Super Bowl, while the Packers were left looking for answers and, perhaps, revenge.

Now they’ll get their shot under the lights of Monday Night Football, with the crowd behind them at Lambeau Field. It will mark the first time the Eagles have played in Green Bay since 2020.

The game is also one of the first major reveals on the Packers’ 2025 schedule, joining a previously announced Week 16 road game against the Bears.

Between the playoff stakes, the brewing rule drama, and the budding NFC rivalry, this matchup offers everything the league loves in a primetime game — storylines, tension, and a chance for redemption.
