WWE may be planning on bringing back a popular star during tonight's episode of SmackDown. This week's edition of the blue brand will air live from Utah and is the final show before Saturday Night's Main Event tomorrow night.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, R-Truth may be making his return during tonight's edition of SmackDown. The report hilariously noted that the veteran could be making his return tonight dressed as Santa Claus on Halloween.

The 53-year-old hasn't competed in a televised match since his victory over Aleister Black on the July 11 edition of SmackDown. Aleister Black challenged Ilja Dragunov for the United States Championship last week but came up short in the match. Dragunov announced earlier today that he will be defending his title again tonight on WWE SmackDown.

R-Truth released The White Album earlier this year, and it has been very successful so far. The veteran will be performing live in New York next month as well.

Bill Apter compares WWE star to R-Truth

Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently compared WWE NXT star Je'Von Evans to R-Truth.

Speaking on WrestleVotes Q&A earlier this year, Apter suggested that the company may be planning on having Evans serve as Truth's replacement down the line in the promotion. Evans answered Sami Zayn's Open Challenge for the United States Championship earlier this year but failed to capture the title.

"I've got a conspiracy theory that somebody said which is totally ridiculous but I've got to get it out there. Totally ridiculous. R-Truth is gone as we know so somebody said to me you know what, this is like a casting situation in let's say, a Broadway show. He goes out just a little bit after Je'Von Evans makes his SmackDown debut. Same look, same entrance, younger guy, is this the replacement for Truth?" said Bill Apter.

Truth's time in the promotion appeared to be coming to an end earlier this year, but he made a stunning return to attack John Cena at Money in the Bank 2025. It will be fascinating to see what WWE has planned for the former champion moving forward.
